How Long do Teeth Whitening Results Last?
Posted on May 13, 2015 in Teeth Whitening
The length of results from teeth whitening largely depends on the type of treatment you choose, dietary and lifestyle habits, and other factors. Here at the practice of Dr. Michael Kosdon, our experienced cosmetic dentist offers both professional in-office teeth whitening procedures as well as customized at-home whitening trays. While the at-home trays can offer great results, they will likely not last as long as a full in-office treatment.
With an in-office teeth whitening treatment, results can last anywhere from six months to two years. In some cases, patients have experienced results for much longer than that. There are a few things you can do that may help with prolonging results, as well:
- Occasional touch-up whitening treatments can be of great benefit to maintain the effects.
- The avoidance of coffee, tobacco, and red wine can reduce some of the biggest threats when it comes to discoloration and stains.
- Consult with your dentist about what you should do to keep the results going in terms of when you need a touch-up, or if you should use an at-home whitening kit to augment the effects.
One of the important things to remember about in-office teeth whitening treatments is that they are ultimately investments in your smile. The results are often extraordinary and much longer-lasting than that of an over-the-counter whitening product, particularly if you take good care of your teeth and watch out for stain-causing agents.
Dr. Kosdon custom-designs our teeth whitening treatments to make sure you achieve the best possible results in a safe and effective manner. If you would like to learn more about our teeth whitening options, or if you would like to schedule an appointment, please contact us today.
